Ten paddlers showed up for the Horne Lake paddle. When we arrived the water was calm and we thought we would have a windless day on the lake.
Not to be, as, about 20 minutes prior to setting out, the wind picked up and changed the plan to paddle north around the shoreline.
Instead, we went along the south shoreline of the regional park, passing by a full campground of campers. After over an hour of paddling, we decided to stop at a sandy beach to stretch our legs and within a few minutes made the call to have an early lunch on the sunny shore.
Following lunch, off the group went and paddled to Turtle Rock,
crossed the lake toward the cabin inhabited side of the lake. As the wind was at our backs, the trip back was a quick and very easy paddle.
After all the boats were loaded, several of us headed over to Pineridge RV Park and Market for ice cream. A great way to end a mid-summer paddle.
